There are addresses in America that function as credentials, and Trousdale Estates is one of them. The hilltop enclave above Beverly Hills, all glass, stone and manicured silence, is where the city’s most guarded evenings happen. It is also where Raquel Sanchez stages her signature experience, The Beverly Hills Ball, at a private estate, and the photograph of her conducting an orchestra from a podium in a grand ballroom, baton raised, runway models in evening gowns behind her, tells you precisely how she earned her name: The Orchestr8or.

Sanchez operates through KTM Events Inc., the umbrella for two communities, Kiss The Monkeys and Kiss The Mermaids, whose membership reads like a seating chart for the modern luxury economy: celebrities, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, artists and speakers. Her stated formula, “People. Presence. Possibility,” is less a slogan than a guest-list philosophy. In the world of high-end events, access is the asset, and she curates it the way this month’s New York power room of wealth and influence was curated: deliberately, and with a purpose beyond the evening itself.

The Ball: fashion, performance, philanthropy

The Beverly Hills Ball layers fashion, live performance, celebrity guests and philanthropy into a single night at a private Trousdale Estates residence. The model is significant. Ultra-private venues, couture on a runway, live music performed steps from the dinner tables, and a charitable beneficiary woven through it all: this is the current grammar of luxury giving, where the experience must be as rare as the cause is worthy. Sanchez did not stumble into that grammar. She wrote much of her career in it.

Her New York counterpart production, “Once Upon a Runway: A Toy Story,” paired a Bentley event promotion with the FAO Schwarz charity fashion gala benefiting St. Jude, near Rockefeller Center. The philanthropy in her portfolio has a paper trail.
